FAQs - our answers below

When will the campus recruiting season begin and how many job openings will you offer?

We will be conducting company presentations at universities in the Autumn and we will begin accepting applications at that time. Our recruiting target is determined by the business conditions existing at the time that offers are made. For details please refer to Campus Recruiting Calendar.

How much lead time should I give for the submission of my application?

If you are applying for a position as a Junior Consultant or as a Consultant, you should contact us approximately 4 to 9 months prior to completing your studies. Interns and Summer Associates have a shorter lead time of approximately 3 months. If you are applying for a position as a Senior Consultant or as a Project Manager, the lead time depends on your period of notice of termination with your current employer.

What requirements must I fulfil?

To become a consultant for Roland Berger, you must have good analytical and conceptual abilities, creativity, team spirit, and strong communications skills Your university major is of secondary importance but your scores should be well above average. Initial work experience and international exposure are additional requirements. We are especially on the lookout for people who are at ease in a challenging international and entrepreneurial environment. There is no single “ideal” profile.

Do I need a business degree to start a consulting career?

The answer is a clear “NO”! Approximately 50% of our consultants hold a degree in a field other than business. We often find that their unique approach helps our project teams deliver creative ideas and viable solutions. Of course, all consultants need to have a certain understanding of basic business principles. We thus provide our colleagues from non-business backgrounds with special training via business seminars.

I am a recent graduate in Beijing. If I become a Roland Berger consultant, can I be based in Shanghai?

We have two offices in China: one in Shanghai and the other in Beijing. Each consultant can choose his/her home office based on personal preferences and company needs.
