CCTV-2 and Roland Berger present: The Second Annual "Best Foreign Business in China Award"

On December 2nd, 2011, CCTV-2 in association with Roland Berger Strategy Consultants launches the second "Best Foreign Business in China Award". The main aim of this award is to highlight "the contribution to China as well as the impact on China" of foreign companies which conduct business within China. They are also recognised for their "outstanding performance" throughout 2011. The award will be announced at the beginning of next year, January 2012 and will be presented at the "Davos World Economic Forum" in Switzerland.

CCTV-2 as well as Roland Berger will take advantage of their business resources and observations to discover the top foreign companies in China. The award also allows for a long-term and effective platform at Davos World Economic Forum for company leaders, politicians and scholars to provide important and helpful suggestions to foreign companies who are interested in expanding and developing their current businesses in China, as well as to the reform of China's economy.

The key phrase of this year's award is "taking root in China". The three main aspects that foreign companies are evaluated on are: "Adaption, innovation and expansion", in relation to hot market issues and company dynamics within China.

The selection process for this award is divided into three phases. Throughout these phases foreign companies are assessed using qualitative and quantitative tools. Using expert opinions from both China and abroad the companies are thoroughly and comprehensively assessed.

Phase one consists of a preliminary screening. Around 200 companies which have some form of business development within China are selected from the "2011 Fortune Global 500" list.

Phase two is candidate company evaluation. The organisers of the award collect public data on the selected companies and have them complete standardised questionnaires. The top 50 companies are selected through comprehensive and accurate corporate data, quantitative and qualititave evaluations and jury comments.

The final phase of selection is Jury assessment. The jury, consisting of 50 scholars, international business school professors, politicians, business leaders and famous investors examine and evaluate the top 50 companies to form the final list for the "2011 Best Foreign Business in China Award".

The second annual 2011 Best Foreign Business Award will be announced on the 4th CCTV China Night Ceremony during the 2012 Davos World Economic Forum.

After the ceremony, some of the participants will attend high-level forums and round-table seminars held both in Europe and China to discuss how foreign companies make decisions while developing businesses within China. At the same time Roand Berger will conduct research on all the candidate companies which it will publish as a survey white paper to provide insights for both companies already present in China as well as those interested in developing in China.
