Roland Berger Annual Party: Welcome to the Year of the Tiger

At cheerful new year parties in Shanghai and Beijing, Roland Berger China Office mustered positive energy for 2010.Cross-dressing and traditional Chinese costumes: the themes for the New Year's parties in Beijing and Shanghai could hardly have been further apart. But no matter what the theme, spirits at both festivities soared equally high. With two fabulous New Year's parties on February 6 and 8, Roland Berger China Office bade farewell to the Ox and geared up for the Year of the Tiger.

Cross-dressers in Shanghai
In Shanghai, our colleagues and their families celebrated last year's achievements at the elegant Marble Hall in the Portman Ritz-Carlton Hotel, right in the middle of Shanghai's most famous shopping street Nanjing West Road. The party's cross-dressing theme was apparent everywhere: ladies wore gentlemen's accessories and clothes and vice versa.
Guests indulged in good food and drink until Erika Chen, May Chen, William Liu and Mark Mao, the appointed masters of ceremonies, announced it was "show time". Several games added to the fun: in Charades, players had to portray famous characters using only body language; and in "Commander", participants had to arrange people into groups according to different rules, such as: 8 people, hand-in-hand, with at least one wearing earrings, at least one having long hair and at least one wearing high heels.

Traditional costumes in Beijing
The costume party in Beijing, held in the Peninsula Restaurant, was equally cheerful. Colleagues were expected to put on traditional Chinese clothes such as Tang costume, cheongsam or Chinese tunic suit. The event started with a lavish lunch followed by fun activities. These included exchanging Chinese congratulations for the New Year and singing sentences containing certain words such as "love" or "spring". The evening was rounded off with a very special fashion show.
