GREATER CHINA

Telecom Industry Briefing

July 2009

China's telecom industry has gradually stepped into a mature phase after many years of development: The annual growth rate of domestic telecom market has been lower than GDP growth rate in the same period over two consecutive years. In addition, the industry was restructured in early 2009 and 3G license was issued as well. All those factors lead to a thorough breaking apart of the previous competition pattern, and also a termination of the current market segmentation. The three major telecom carriers together enter into times of all-service operation, and market competition is undergoing a qualitative change.

At this moment, Roland Berger timely launched a telecom industry briefing in June. The briefing presents you a comprehensive analysis on channel transition of the three carriers from different perspectives of channel strategy, channel pattern and channel management. We believe the three-step management proposal will help to optimize the channel and guide the carriers to adapt to the more and more mature customer market and the transition to all-service operation.
